Welcome Note From CC

It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you, on behalf of Management and TAWA staff to our website. TAWA is undergoing massive reforms; particular emphasis has been paid to deploying ecological knowledge integrated with use of technology to deal with poaching. With respect to tourism, we also have been innovative by thinking of new mechanisms such as Special Wildlife Investment Concession and Public Private Partnership (PPP) particularly in the areas of investment. Another aspect is developing infrastructure with customers in mind rather than by tradition. We think that infrastructure development must target customer needs, which means identifying the particular market segments that we may need to deal with. This will not mean that it is one approach; rather it is bringing into play a variety of approaches in combination and in line with the vast variety of attractions offered by the areas TAWA manages. This will mean looking very carefully and sharply at what TAWA has in terms of tourist attractions in its protected areas as well as antiquities sites and gauging against market needs to determine market niches. In addition TAWA is just starting address its photographic tourism market, which means that this calls for massive investment. I remain confident that TAWA staff are willing and ready to as hard if not harder than they have been. We welcome the challenge. |
