Overview
Lukwati and Piti Game Reserves were established in 1997 and 2013 respectively in former Chunya District, Mbeya Region but now in Songwe District, Songwe Region. Formerly game controlled area, Lukwati Game Reserve and Piti Game Reserve in Mbeya District, Mbeya Region, have many wildlife species including hippos and crocodiles that are in Lake Rukwa which border the reserve to the southwest.
Animals to find
Giraffe, lion, buffalo, elephant, Sable antelope, warthog, crocodile, hippo, hyena, wild dogs, oribi, velvet monkey and baboon.
Vegetation
Miombo woodland with grassland, shrub and thickets.

How to access?
By road from Mbeya City to Chunya-Saza to Kiniga Road then Ngwala or Gua. Airstrips are seasonal.
